What does it mean in Shotgun "MON sequence"?

Curious. What does MON stand for?

Hi @JobMartin, welcome to the community!
Are you referring to the MON sequence in a video or documentation? If so, can you pass along the video link or documentation link you are referencing?

Cheers,
Shayna

Hi Shayna. I’ve buried myself in learning your software, so, I can’t remember what I was referring to. Finding it super deep and hard to learn. Probably because SG is that. :slightly_smiling_face: It’s meant to be super deep. It’s all connecting. Studio work is massive. I was a CG scheduler at ILM back in '95 - '02. After ILM I used a diff software at the next place of employment. That’s been 10 years ago. However. I’m WAY beyond rusty. Hoping I may mail you again if I have further questions. Thank you, Shayna, so much for replying.

Hope to make more inquiries.
Cheers!

Hi @JobMartin,

Oh, no worries! Yes, Shotgun can support complexity so I definitely hear where you’re coming from. I missed you at ILM (I was there a little later, prior to joining the Shotgun team!).

So, I’m thinking you were probably in the midst of watching or reading our tutorials when you discovered the MON sequence. This is a sequence used in our demo project called “Drednots”. You can see it here:

Or in our companion written guides here.

That said, it was just an example sequence we used for learning purposes.

But I highly recommend checking out our newer tutorial guides and video content if you’re getting started. They will keep it simple at first, and after that you can dive into the deeper stuff.

Starting simple

Thank you, Shaynad! This is very helpful. I appreciate your taking time and sending me these tips and further readings. Shotgun is deep. We were using Filemaker Pro and Excel at ILM to do facility scheduling, back in the day. I also wanted to tell you that your vid’s on YouTube are excellent! The best, clearest, tutorials I’ve ever seen on YT. I am not surprised an ILMer is responsible for the quality. You have a great stage presence and speaking voice. Thank you, again. What was it the old timers up at Lucas-land used to say ILM stood for?.. Oh, yeah. I Love Movies. ha!

Best regards!
